Welcome
As the Associate Dean Research, I would like to extend an invitation for you to engage with us and to explore how we can work together. Members of the DeGroote team are committed to ensuring that our research is based on consultation and involvement of key stakeholders as we seek to address a myriad of issues across our areas of focus. We are working to break down silos between academia and society to ensure that our research is driven by issues relevant to Canadian organizations and individuals, and when applicable with an international lens.
Over the past year we have welcomed new faculty members and continue to recruit to strengthen the depth and breadth of our research and teaching. DeGroote is committed to inter-disciplinary research and the advancement of knowledge across a broad spectrum of management disciplines, including Accounting; Finance; Healthcare; Human Resources; Information Systems; Marketing; Operations; and Strategy. Our research is diverse and we are supported by a cross section of funding agencies that include, but are not limited to SSHRC, NSERC, CIHR, OCE, Mitacs, Future Skills Centre, Canada Foundation for Innovation, in addition to the support we receive directly from partner organizations and various McMaster-based initiatives.
Our 2022 funding success ensures that DeGroote will impact a wide range of issues that include but are not limited to the circular economy, information technology threats, digital literacy, electric vehicle equity, financial reporting, business honesty, the sharing economy, stakeholder-centric corporate responsibility, supply chain, and our global impact on sustainability. We contribute to solutions and thought leadership as we work to adapt to, and more recently, emerge from the pandemic. I am pleased to confirm that our research enterprise is fully open for business.
We are training future leaders and scientists to address important problems; they are gaining key insights regarding the role of research in informing the businesses we work with and the communities with which we engage. We have expanded the inclusion of undergraduate, masters and PhD students in research and look forward to this work informing their future career success.
Our research chairs, centres, and laboratories contribute significantly to the leading-edge research we are able to undertake most often in collaboration with private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. The McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre, the Marketing and Supply Chain Analytics Laboratory (MiSCAN), and the Laboratory for Organizational Behaviour Research are innovative facilities dedicated to enhanced decision making and the implementation of results.
If you would like to learn more, I encourage you to reach out to me directly or to any faculty member with which you share an interest. If you are considering a future in research, we are open to expanding our academic team.
I want to thank Dr. Gillian Mulvale and Dean Khaled Hassanein, for contributing to DeGroote’s past research success.
