Welcome

As the new Associate Dean Graduate Studies and Research, I am pleased to welcome you to our research website, and I encourage you to engage with us. This is an exciting time for DeGroote research; we have several new innovative projects underway, as highlighted in our news feed and social media outreach. Always forward-looking, we welcome new collaborations from organizations, academic colleagues and acknowledge the critical role that students play in our research enterprise. Therefore, I am extending a personal invitation to connect with us and explore how we can work together to address pressing societal issues.

DeGroote is committed to inter-disciplinary research and the advancement of knowledge across a broad spectrum of management disciplines, including AccountingFinanceHealthcareHuman ResourcesInformation SystemsMarketing; Operations; and Strategy. Given the diversity of our research, we manage projects across various agencies such as SSHRCNSERCCIHROCEMitacsFuture Skills CentreCanada Foundation for Innovation and are supported via various McMaster-based initiatives.

Our 2021 funding success ensures that our School impacts topics ranging from data-driven decision making, global stock returns, online misinformation, entrepreneurial ingenuity, social innovation, and resilience in the not-for-profit sector, to name a few. DSB researchers have risen to the challenges presented by the pandemic and are contributing towards meaningful solutions for entrepreneurs, various key industries (energy, healthcare, air travel, retail, long-term care, cybersecurity, and more), the not-for-profit sector, and employees navigating workplace implications.

Our research chairs, centres, and laboratories contribute to our research success; they are leading edge and open to collaborations with private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. The McMaster Digital Transformation Research Centre, the Marketing and Supply Chain Analytics Laboratory (MiSCAN), and the Laboratory for Organizational Behaviour Research have contributed to our research intensity and, through their leading-edge technologies, are driving innovative solutions.

If you are considering a future in research or academia, I encourage you to reach out to me or any faculty member. We are open to supervising aspiring researchers and growing our academic team.

I want to thank Dr. Hassanein for contributing to DeGroote’s robust research portfolio. I look forward to working with him as our new Dean.
