The McMaster Organizational Behaviour Laboratory (MOBL) is dedicated to studying the evolving nature of workplaces. The researchers specifically focus on demographics that are frequently marginalized, such as part-time workers, independent contractors, temporary employees, mobile workers, temporary foreign workers, and workers with disabilities.
MOBL addresses a crucial gap in the understanding of organizational behavior by providing a specialized research environment. Despite the profound impact of workplace dynamics on individuals, they often remain poorly comprehended. Through the formulation and testing of hypotheses via experiments and data analysis from real-world workplace settings, the lab seeks to advance knowledge in this area.
Learn moreThe Marketing and Supply Chain Analytics (MiSCAN) lab explores the application of big data in marketing and supply chain. It focuses on understanding consumer behavior, creating marketing campaigns and optimizing supply chains by harnessing the power of information. The team of researchers is dedicated to improving efficiency and productivity through innovative use of big data analytics. By combining customer and supply chain information, the lab generates actionable business intelligence aimed at informing strategic decisions across various business processes, including sourcing, operations management, marketing and customer relationship management.
Learn moreThe NeuroLead lab applies advanced neurophysiological methods to enable the direct assessment of the effects of leaders on individuals and teams, focusing on their synchronizing role. We aim to uncover the behavioural and neural mechanisms underlying social interactions, including leadership development activities in this unique neurophysiology lab designed to mimic natural business environments.
Members of the Careers and Inequality Lab are studying how to improve the workplace for everyone. We are researching the reasons for career inequality. We seek to discover interventions to reduce persistent disadvantages some workers face. We study people working in a variety of fields, including scientists, journalists, graphic designers, consultants, educators and nurses.

Through webinars and events with globally recognized experts and professional development programs, the Foresight Lab helps leaders position themselves as adaptive and resilient in the face of exponential and constant change.
Learn moreThe Research on Artificial Persons (RAP) lab investigates the impact of humanlike technologies on individuals, organizations, and societies. These technologies, referred to as artificial persons, include anthropomorphic robots, chatbots, digital avatars, and other social AI agents. As entities that are neither fully inanimate nor truly alive, artificial persons introduce a new ontological reality with unknown societal implications. Our interdisciplinary research group employs both qualitative and quantitative methods to explore how humans perceive and interact with artificial persons. On the cusp of a new social era, research on humanlike technologies is crucial for proactively defining the kind of person machines should be to ensure optimal psychological, organizational, and social outcomes.
